Crowns
When damages to the tooth, whether from trauma or caries, beyond the recommendation for traditional filling, a core build up and a full coverage crown are highly recommended to restore the involved tooth to its original form and function. There are serveral material options available, ranging from: full cast base or gold metal, porcelain-fused-to metal, or all-ceramic. Each material offers its own advantanges and draw backs. Dr. Nguyen will carefully evaluate the presentation of each individual case and recommend the best material to restore the tooth, which will provide the most aesthetically pleasing restoration, besides many years of services to the patient.
Bridges
When there is a tooth missing, traditionally a dental bridge would be recommeded to replace it. A dental bridge utilized at least two adjacent teeth as anchors (retainer crowns) and supports, which are connected to the middle crown (pontic) that acts to replace the missing tooth. As with crowns, bridges can be made using similar materials and share similar characteristic, as described above.
Since all the teeth involved in a bridge are connected to each other, Dr. Nguyen will give a through home care instructions that patients will follow to ensure long service life of the restoration.
