When the pocket depths around the teeth are more than 5mm in depth (measuring from the top of the gum, down to the bottom of the pockets), after the intial scaling and root planning, a minor surgical procedure may be recommended to reduce those pocket depths, to around 3mm, allowing better access for hygiene care by the patients.
Local anesthetic will be administered for patient’s comfort. Post treatment instructions, along with necessary prescription for analgesic, will be given to the patient, as well as appointments for recares.
