Extraction Socket Preservation
The bony socket, where a tooth had just being extracted, needs to be grafted or preserved to prevent colapsing during the healing process. Studies of found that, without grafting or socket preservation, significant bone loss will occur in just a few short year after tooth extraction. Once that occurred, there may not be enough bone volume for placement of dental implant, necessitating additional costs and surgery for bone augmentation.
This grafting procedure is done at time of tooth or teeth extraction, utilizing grafting materials. Dr. Nguyen will discuss and select the proper material, with patient’s inputs and preferences, at time of consultation.
